Gen. Charlton Sean Gaerlan PN, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff; Captain Virgilio De Guzman PN, AFPEBSO Chief.

As part of its continuing commitment to education, Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation (TLDC) recently turned over the second tranche of its scholarship support to the Armed Forces of the Philippines Education Benefit System Office (AFPEBSO) amounting to PhP1 million.

In 2019, TLDC signed a partnership agreement with AFPEBSO to fund scholarships over a 10-year period for college-aged beneficiaries of military servicemen and women who were killed in action. The P10-million scholarship fund covers full tuition and miscellaneous fees for grantees, to be given yearly for the entire program.

“Education has always been important to TLDC,” says TLDC COO Cathy Casares-Ko. “We are grateful to have the opportunity to help the dependents of our brave soldiers who gave their lives for our country. This initiative is our way of saying thank you for their sacrifices. We hope that we can help uplift their families’ lives, so that they have a chance to pay it forward in the future.”

In his speech, Lt. Gen Gaerlan said that the scholarship fund will help bridge the educational gaps among military personnel’s dependents. “These educational benefit slots are very much appreciated by the AFP, and we hope that through this collaboration, more dependents and grantees will be given the opportunity to become professionals and globally competent individuals for a better Philippines,” he said.

The TLDC scholarship fund supports the annual college education of 14 students from AFPEBSO partner schools across the country.
